Some useful information on restaurants, hotels, supermarkets and shops in Bilbao, which we have collated from various sources for ferry travellers to Bilbao.
PO Ferries operated this route until 27th September 2010. Brittany Ferries started a new service in the summer of 2011.
However from Spring 2010, Brittany Ferries will operate two crossing a week, using its luxury cruise ferry Cap Finistere. Existing services currently available for travel to Spain are the twice weekly Portsmouth to Santander, and weekly Plymouth to Santander crossings.

The port of Santurtzi, where ferries dock, is a short drive from the town of Bilbao. There is bus service into Bilbao as well as a train that runs every 20 minutes.

There are four main shopping areas in Bilbao;
The oldest shopping area in Bilbao. The Mercado de la Ribera is one of the largest covered markets in Europe. The old town has a public car park, together with some of best eating and tapas places in the city.
The streets of Indautxu especially Rodriguez Arias, Plaza de Campuzano, Alameda Urquijo. This shopping area has the advantage of being lively, above all in the Licenciado Poza bar area. Two underground stations, Indautxu and San Mamés, mean that it can be easily reached from the other parts of the city.
This area is home of some large department stores, major clothes shops, famous dressmakers, antique shops, bookshops. Around the Plaza Moyúa, where the Gran Via and Ercilla and Elcano streets meet, the most important international fashion names can be found: CK – Calvin Klein, Gucci, Loewe, Benetton, etc.
