Bilbao Ferry; P & O Ferries

Book a PO Ferry to Bilbao

The port of Santurtzi, where the ferry docks, is a short drive from the town of Bilbao. There is bus service into Bilbao as well as a train that runs every 20 minutes. P & O Ferries offer a coach service direct from the terminal for £10.00 return. Crossing times are; 36 hours to Bilbao, 29 hours to Portsmouth. A standard outside cabin costs from £94 off peak each way (2 berth).

The Mercado de la Ribera, one of the largest covered markets in Europe, is one of the areas outstanding features.

Museums in Bilbao

Guggenheim Museum, Open: June - September, Tuesday - Sunday 10.00am - 8.00pm (closed Monday), July / August every day 9.00am - 9.00pm.

Bilbao Shopping

There are four main shopping areas in Bilbao;

Old Town "Casco Viejo"

The oldest shopping area in Bilbao. The Mercado de la Ribera is one of the largest covered markets in Europe. The old town has a public car park, together with some of best eating and tapas places in the city.

Indautxu

The streets of Indautxu especially Rodriguez Arias, Plaza de Campuzano, Alameda Urquijo. This shopping area has the advantage of being lively, above all in the Licenciado Poza bar area. Two underground stations, Indautxu and San Mamés, mean that it can be easily reached from the other parts of the city.

Ensanche

This area is home of some large department stores, major clothes shops, famous dressmakers, antique shops, bookshops, etc. Around the Plaza Moyúa, where the Gran Vía and Ercilla and Elcano streets meet, the most important international fashion names can be found: CK - Calvin Klein, Gucci, Loewe, Benetton, etc.
