Buying Perfumes and Beauty products in France

We have now completed our first survey of some perfumes and skin care products in France. Many thanks to Rebecca for her help and advice.

Overall, we have found that perfumes are about 15% cheaper in France. Skin care products offer better value with prices up to 26% lower, but that depends on which range. Clarins offers the best value overall.

The ferry companies range was surprisingly good value, although the skin care range was limited and not as cheap as in French shops. We found staff in all the main perfume shops in Calais helpful and knowledgable.

CREDIT CARDS - we suggest you ring your credit card company before shopping in France - increased fraud means they are turning down shoppers cards if their spending deviates from the norm. Take your mobile - you can often sort the problem out over the phone.
